Alternative careers: Fostering parenting as a job!

This may seem strange, as many people often don’t realise that being a foster carer can actually be very lucrative. While foster caring is primarily a vocation, and something that should only be considered if you want to make a true difference in people’s lives, it can be a fantastic career change.

In recent years, fostering has gradually changed from a vocation that was undertaken on a voluntary basis, with paid expenses, to a point where it can now be seen as a financially viable, professional career option and as an alternative to traditional forms of paid employment.

So why should you think about considering it as a career? Whether you go via a Private Fostering Agency or via government channels, fostering is a lifestyle career.

Many people used to want to help young people, but couldn’t afford to do so with a full time job. Fostering has since become increasingly professional and properly paid now allows more people to decide that they can take it up.

It is a 24 hours a day job, that really becomes a way of life. It’s a job that is always changing, exciting and inspiring – you have no idea what your life is going to look like before you get your own placement! If you’re passionate about children and can give them the love and the support to make it through trauma and difficulties, then you need to learn more about how you can become a foster parent.

There are many valuable resources out there that will help you if you are considering changing your career. Foster parenting isn’t easy, but there are few jobs out there that will give you a stronger sense of importance and appreciation. Everyone deserves to have a job in which they feel valued and worthwhile, so maybe it’s time to change the way you look at your career.
